Variants

The purple PlayStation Picks disc has a nifty variant sleeve I’ve called the URNOTE version. It’s the exact same disc but now in a sexy black sleeve with the original marketing on it. URNOTE was shortened from “You are not ready.” The purpose of this variant isn’t clear – the disc was included with all launch day models, so it was more than likely a handout at a vendor show like E3 / CES or sent directly to stores as a 1 off to be used in the kiosks.

Trivia

  • Tommy Tallirico did the soundtrack for the demo disc. Originally a composer known for his 16-Bit music days, his modern legacy unfortunately is chained to the failure of the Intellivision Amico.
  • Despite being featured on the back of the sleeve, Madden NFL ’96 and Mortal Kombat 3 are nowhere to be found. Madden would eventually be canceled.
