Trivia
- Twisted Metal is only one of 8 possible Long Box-era PlayStation games that are a single variant away from the “Perfect Five” variant set. That is, one of all three long boxes, jewel case, and Greatest Hits. So far it is believed that there is no “long box jewel / Saturn style” case variant, though. Only one turned up, and it was confirmed fake / assembled of other long box parts.
- David Jaffe, who made his name truly famous with the God of War series on PS2, was an Assistant Producer on the Twisted Metal series.
- The only game in the series to feature an in-cockpit view.
- According to a video by David Jaffe, at one point, there was supposed to be a cinematic camera. As an example, if you hit a ramp with enough speed, the game would switch to a momentary camera angle showing off your feat. He felt it took the player out of the game.
- There were supposed to be more Full Motion Video incorporated into the game, including parts of the arenas.
- The first game almost set up Twisted Metal II to be about hover cars or insects.
- In the stage with the ice skating female, the female was a friend of David Jaffe’s, who also appeared in an unused video segment. She later ended up his wife.
