Secrets

NBA Live 98’s development teams seem to have had some fun while making the game.

Cheat Mode

1. From the Game Setup screen, make your decisions, accept, and then choose your team.
2. Enter the “User Setup” screen, highlight the team to be controlled, and press Up until the phrase “Start New” appears. Press X, enter Secrets (case-sensitive) as a name, and press Start. The Circle Button now reads “Secrets”.
3. Press Circle to enter. Enter one of the following case-sensitive codes and press Start. Note: Some cheats have multiple options. To change settings, highlight the code and press Left or Right. All codes are saved to the memory card if the game is saved immediately after entering the code. This can be done by backing up to the Season – Team Schedule screen and pressing Circle to access the menu. You can save after you enter multiple codes.

Don’t forget, the passwords are case-sensitive.  Meaning if it says “Cloak away”, only the C may be capitalized. 

• Player Has Eyepatch
  Enter “Eyepatch” as the password – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Player Has Monocle
  Enter “Monocle” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Home Team Is Invisible
  Enter “Cloak home” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Away Team Is Invisible
  Enter “Cloak away” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Home Team Is Camouflaged (Chameleon)
  Enter “Lizard” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Away Team Is Camouflaged (Chameleon)
  Enter “Reptile” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Unlock Programmers on the Free Agent List (Hitmen, Be FREE!!)
  Enter “Prisoners” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Unlock EA Toque for Created Players (It’s a hat)
  Enter “Toque” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm.
• Unlock the Aqua court
  Enter “Seaweed” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm. Turn this on to play underwater.
• Home Team in Halloween costumes
  Enter “Scary” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm. When you turn this code on by pressing left or right, you will be able to choose from Clown, ALien, Mummy, and then Pin, if he’s activated below.
• Away Team in Halloween costumes
  Enter “Freaky” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm. When you turn this code on by pressing left or right, you will be able to choose from Clown, ALien, Mummy, and then Pin, if he’s activated below.
• Unlock Teddy Bear Outfits (Loveable Adorable Pin)
  Enter “Pin rocks” as the password. – when the last letter is set, press Start instead of Cross to confirm. A red dialogue box will pop up and ask you what Pin is. Choose “he’s both” and you’ll be congratulated. You’ll now have the option in the secrets list. For this to work, input both Halloween codes above, and then when activating the costumes, Pin will be added to the choices.

Hidden Teams

From the Game Setup screen, press Circle, and from the blue menu choose Rosters. In the Rosters screen, press Circle again and choose Custom Teams. Now enter the following names and locations to unlock the hidden teams.

Don’t forget, the passwords are case-sensitive.  Meaning if it says “Earplugs”, only the E may be capitalized.
