Trivia
- When two of my favorite things collide; While the game was released in 2000, in 2003 Hasbro began releasing Transformers in a toy-line called Alternators. The Autobot known as BlueStreak was modeled after the real world Subaru Impreza WRX, sharing the paint job of the Subaru Racing team.
- Colin McRae passed away in 2007 after being involved in a helicopter crash near his home.
Secrets
Colin McRae Rally has one of the most robust, hilarious, and fan service sets of cheat codes you will ever find on the PlayStation.
Unlockables
Note: All of these cheats can be used in Rally Mode and Time Trial.
- 4-Wheel Steering
Enter TROLLEY as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. This makes all cars 4-wheeled steering. - 60 Frames Per Second Animation
Enter SILKYSMOOTH as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. The game strips out any non-important visual data like most of your HUD to give 60 frames per second. - Back-to-the-Future Cars
Enter HOVERCRAFT as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Once on the track, the car will float up and tuck its tires underneath just like the Delorean in Back to the Future. - Double Engine Power
Enter MOREOOMPH as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Gives every part category a double boost. - Fog
Enter PEASOUPER as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. A thick heavy gray fog will now block your view of the road. - Green Jelly Car
Enter BLANCMANGE as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. The In-Game Pause Menu and car are now bright green. It even wobbles! - Low Gravity
Enter MOONWALK as your driver name – you’ll hear a chime. The car will be much more floaty in the controls and jumps last a bit longer. - Metallic Cars
Enter TINFOILED as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Besides a shiny aluminum look, you’re also now indestructible. - Co-Pilot Takes the Wheel
Enter BACKSEAT as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. The passenger will be controlling the car, Enter first person view to see it in action. - Play in the Dark
Enter NIGHTRIDER as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. All races are now performed at night. - Track N’ Field Mode
Enter BUTTONBASH as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Now in order to gain speed, you will need to alternate pressing the Circle and Cross button as fast as you can. This is a direct reference to the original Konami arcade game Track N’ Field. - Replays
Enter DIRECTORCUT as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. You now have controls in the replay with the Shoulder Buttons changing the camera behavior. - Reversed Tracks
Enter SKCART as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. The start and finish lines will be flipped. - Right Side Driver
Enter WHITEBUNNY as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. In first person view, the driver and wheel will be on the right side of the car for our Non-US friends. The code’s entry name is probably a nod to the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, as you’re looking at a mirroed (looking glass) image. - Micro Machines V3 Mode
Enter DIDDYCARS as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. As the timer counts down to start, your car will begin to shrink and the voiceover gets squeakier. Once the race starts, the camera will rotate to an above view, making the game play like Codemasters’ other fan-favorite series Micro Machines V3. - Squeaky-voiced Co-driver
Enter HELIUMNICK as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Your passenger is now squeaky voiced. - Turbo Boost
Enter KITCAR as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. When racing, press the Select Button to Turbo Boost just like K.I.T.T can from Knight Rider. A small bar at the bottom lights up green when you can boost and red as it recharges. - Rear Wheel Steering
Enter FORKLIFT as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Your back wheels now turn rather than the front. - Unlock all Cars
Enter SHOEBOXES as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. All cars will now be available, however they are tied to Difficulty Levels. Higher difficulties are unlocked by completing the game on the lower settings. - Unlock all Tracks
Enter OPENROADS as your driver name – you’ll hear, “Cheat Code Enabled”. Back out to the selection area and now all tracks will be available. This includes the super secret head-to-head track.
