“CTR: Crash Team Racing will likely change everything you ever thought a cart racing game should be!” – Game Informer

The original Day 1 edition of Crash Team Racing (shown above) was shipped with a shiny foil cover. Sony did this with other games like Blasto and Spyro to celebrate the pre-order angle and release of the game. Once the second shipment of games came, it was changed to the standard color manual.

Jewel Case Release – Plain Cover

It should be pointed out for the super collectors that the shiny and plain versions have two different disc arts. One is slightly more saturated in color, so if you’re piecing together a full game, you’ll need to pay attention to the colors. The easiest marker is the checkered flag pattern directly behind the CTR logo. Oddly enough, their shadows are darker in the Shiny release. See below:

As with all Crash Bandicoot games, this one went Greatest Hits as well. Standard release.

Greatest Hits Release

After the Greatest Hits release, it was boxed up in the Collector’s Edition. Oddly enough, in the reprint of that, they changed the color of the disc.
