Variants
It appears that the foil work on Spyro didn’t go smoothly. There are various copies that appear to have the orange hue tone way back, so that if tilted, the manual actually appears yellow. I had to photograph the manual, rather than scan it to get a better illustration of how it looks. It’s not clear if this was just Magenta running low in the printing process, or if there was a decision to pull back on it. Possibly because there might have been too much ink in the process for the paper to handle.
After the “Day 1” foil cover version that was released to pre-order customers (with the leftovers being sold through to ‘walk-in’ customers), the second shipment contained a plain instruction manual.
After that, standard operating procedure for the Greatest Hits release.
Finally, all three Spyro games were released in the Spyro the Dragon Collector’s Edition 3-Pack.
