The World’s Most Heroic Character Returns! Out from the underbelly of a dark and dangerous future, emerges an elusive hero who wages war for peace and justice. Now, one of the world’s most legendary heroes, Strider Hiryu, returns on the PlayStation game console. Armed with his light sword, Cypher, Strider blazes through the darkness to battle the evil dictator, Grandmaster. Featuring 2 discs of gritty action adventure, this highly anticipated sequel also includes an incredible bonus…the original Strider game.

Variants
Strider 2’s notoriety goes past the arcade games with a slight mix-up on the PlayStation release. The discs have been mislabeled – Disc 1 is 2 and vice-versa. It’s been “settled” that the game has never been reprinted correctly, but at least three different people have told me that they had a corrected version. The problem is that none of them has ever provided proof of this.
Misprints
The game in and of itself is a misprint. No known corrected versions.

Trivia
- The game takes place 2000 years after the original. It’s written as if Hiyru was not successful in killing off the Emperor.
- A majority of enemies from the original Strider make cameo appearances in Strider 2, often in an area that pays homage to their original stage. For example, the three female ninjas went from fighting on a moving airship to moving on air cars.
- You can find Strider in Marvel Vs Capcom as a playable character.
- Check out the Secrets tab to see how you can connect the save data between games.
- Even the PSN version of the game has the titles swapped. The first disc loads as Strider 1, when it should be the second game.
- Strider 2 has a bountiful amount of hidden score and power-up icons that reveal themselves once the air they reside in is slashed.
- In Japan, Strider 1 was rereleased in the Capcom GameBook Collection. A nifty subset that featured hardbound guidebooks that included the game. You can see me show them off on GameRaveTV.
- The bonus point blue orbs are Zenny – from the classic arcade game Forgotten Worlds.
Secrets
Strider 1 & 2 have a lovely set of unlockables that make replaying the games fun.
Strider 1
- Unlock Player Set-Up and Stage Select
Finish the game and choose Options once back at the Title Screen. You will see Player Set-Up and Stage Select. Player Set-Up allows you to choose from 1 of 7 outfit colors, your number of lives, and if you’d like a permanently powered-up cipher. Be sure to save!
Strider 2
- Hidden Stage 00
Finish Strider 1 and save the data. When you first put Strider 2 in, it will reveal the hidden stage. Choose Yes to save. This will allow you to have a prologue fight with Strider Hien. - Play as Strider Hien
Finish Strider 2 and save when prompted. Back at the title screen, it will ask which Strider you wish to play as. Strider Hien is pretty snazzy – he uses geometrical ciphers like shuriken. Essentially having a permanent Boost power-up. That is good because he doesn’t get Boost bonuses. - Unlimited Boost for Strider Hiryu
Finish the game as Strider Hien, and then save when prompted.
