INTRODUCTION

PlayStation Mega Memory Card 

The Mega Memory Card provides up to 24 times the capacity of standard memory cards. The Mega Memory Card has 3 memory banks with 8 memory pages in each totaling 24 pages of memory. The LCD digital display shows which page is selected and the status of the current operation.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

  1. Storage is based on compression. Depending on the game software, effective storage capacity is up to 24 times (24 pages) the capacity of the standard PlayStation memory card.
  2. LCD shows current page and usage statistics.
  3. Two buttons enable the user to select one of the 24 pages.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR MEGA MEMORY CARD

Four color inserts are enclosed for customizing your Mega Memory Card. Choose your color and affix the sticker just above the LCD display inside the oval shape. An index label is provided for recording game information stored on your Mega Memory Card. Use a pencil so changes can be made. Affix the index label to the back of the Mega Memory Card.

HOW TO USE YOUR MEMORY CARD

1. Inserting The Mega Memory Card

Insert the Mega Memory Card into the memory slot of the PlayStation game console. (Insert the Mega Memory Card when your PlayStation console is ON. Turning your console power ON and OFF with a Memory Card inserted could create a power surge, thus deleting game saves.) The last page selected will be displayed on the LCD. If it is a new card, the first page of Bank A will be automatically selected.

2. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)

The Mega Memory Card reports the following using the LCD:

  • The current page – by the two seven-segment digits.
  • The page status – by the 24 dots. User page is represented by a dot; empty pages remain blank (Fig 2 & 3).
  • The waiting message – ‘W’ if the system is busy changing pages.
  • The error message – ‘ER’ if the system is unable to change or swap pages.

3. Selecting Pages

Two buttons control memory page selection. When pressing the left button, the left digit of the LCD will display memory pages ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘A’ accordingly. Similarly, the right button displays the right digit of the LCD ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘4’, ‘5’, ‘6’, ‘7’, ‘8’, ‘1’, ‘2’ accordingly. After the desired page number is displayed on the LCD, 2.5 seconds will elapse before the page changes. When switching pages on the Mega Memory Card, make sure you only switch pages in the Memory Manager Screen of the PlayStation (turn console ON without a game, or open the console lid and press power).

NOTE: Switching pages during game play could randomly delete game saves.

4. Changing Pages

When you switch to a desired page, ‘W’ or ‘ER’ may appear on the LCD. ‘W’ indicates the card is busy swapping pages. ‘ER’ indicates that the card is full. Some saved data must be erased before attempting to swap pages again. If a new page is successfully swapped, ‘W’ will disappear.

NOTE: The Mega Memory Card may take up to 1 minute to process changes.

IMPORTANT: When the busy indicator ‘W’ is on, DO NOT remove the card or turn off the PlayStation console. This may result in a loss or corruption of saved data.

5. Retrieving Data

If you want to reload a game save from different memory pages, press the buttons once to advance the pages until the desired page is reached. After the 2.5-second delay, ‘W’ will display on the LCD until the swap is complete. Afterwards, the desired game information will be active on this page. Eight dots following the character are used to represent the eight memory pages within the corresponding bank. The first dot next to the character represents the first page, the second dot represents the second page, and so on. When the corresponding dot is displayed, there is a game save in that page.

6. Erase All Memory

To completely erase all data, press and hold both page-changing buttons simultaneously while inserting the memory card into the slot. “FF” will appear flashing for 5 seconds on the LCD. After five seconds, the flashing “FF” becomes flashing “- – “. At this point, release both page-changing buttons. The memory is now erased. To abort, erase memory process, release both buttons before the flashing “FF” becomes a flashing “- – “.

HELPFUL HINT

Since the card has a large storage capacity, you may get confused trying to find your favorite game saves. We suggest that you keep a reference list of the games you save. Be sure to record the game as well as the page it is saved on. There are four index labels which should be placed on the back of the card for your easy reference.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Do not store the unit in direct sunlight or at extreme temperatures as this may damage the electronic components.
  • Do not open the cabinet. Maintenance and servicing should be done by qualified personnel only.
  • Be careful not to spill liquid on the unit as this may damage the electronic components.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • When switching pages on the Mega Memory Card, make sure you only switch pages in the Memory Manager Screen of the PlayStation. Turn the console ON without a game or open the console lid and press POWER.
    Note: Switching pages during game play could randomly delete game saves.
  • Insert and remove the Mega Memory Card only when your PlayStation console is ON. Turning your console power ON and OFF with a Memory Card inserted could create a power surge and delete game saves.
  • Do not leave the Mega Memory Card inserted into the PlayStation console. Insert and remove the Mega Memory Card before and after each gameplay.
  • When the same memory block is used repeatedly, the card may not save your information. If this occurs, simply use another block/page.

Do not remove the Mega Memory Card while recording information.

MAINTENANCE:

  • Do not touch the front connectors of the Mega Memory Card directly.
  • Keep the front connectors clean, and keep them away from water.
  • Do not leave the Mega Memory Card in areas of high humidity or high temperatures.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. The actual loading and saving of a game is dictated by the software itself. Please refer to the game manual for the proper loading and saving instructions. The Mega Memory Card will not save the game as a whole. The Mega Memory Card will only save your position and score.
