Welcome back to the Living History Project, I missed you! After a week of nothing, the PlayStation gets a healthy dose of games with a decent variety in them. Let’s gets the sports minded ones out of the way first. Out of the gate is Acclaim’s newest racer ATV: Quad Power Racing, giving two players the chance to get their tires muddy.
Around the corner are a pair of pigskin protagonists starting with Madden NFL 2001…
Followed up by NCAA GameBreaker 2001.
Next up is Capcom’s Resident Evil Survivor – a really neat take on the Resident Evil series that gets horribly neutered in America. Due to the gun violence in schools, the light gun feature was removed, turning the game into a more awkward first person shooter then it’s original, more light gun-arcade feeling. Still a fun game to check out.
Last but not least is our featured game in the lot, Valkyrie Profile. A role playing game with one of the coolest combat engines I’ve seen in a while, and features some incredible in-game artwork. It’s a 2D-sprite based game dealing in Norse Mythology. Collect the souls of dead warriors and send them into battle.
It’s another week before I head back to Funcoland, so enjoy these till then. See you in seven days!
