The Sega Saturn was Sega’s 32-Bit powerhouse successor to the Sega Genesis / Sega CD Combo. Despite an award winning library of arcade titles that come to it and the system’s brilliant 2D skills, a horrible surprise launch decision along with poor 3rd Party support led to the system’s American failure at the hands of the PlayStation.
The Saturn really did deserve more than it got, and to give you perspective on how short it’s life was, the console got Madden NFL 97 and 98. The PlayStation got Madden NFL 97 – 2005. Yeah…it was bad. Thankfully, the system’s 2D abilities and 1st party titles like Panzer Dragoon, World Series Baseball, and arcade ports keep it welcome in most gamers’ entertainment centers.
