Oh hell yes! We’ve got puzzle AND strategy games for you today. First out the door is Artdink’s Carnage Heart. Not for the weak at…uh…heart, in CH you literally (and I mean literally) have to program mech units to do battle with other mech units. The game’s programming style uses sets of tiles and icons – essentially creating a visual map of what the mech should do in each situation. The game’s learning curve is steep enough that the package comes with a tutorial disc AND a beginners guide manual. So far I taught my mech how to turn left and then die. *sad face*
That’s okay though, because SUPER PUZZLE FIGHTER IS OUT TODAY. One of the best arcade puzzle games in years gets ported home to the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation. Besides the obvious arcade and versus modes, there’s also Street Mode, where you play against the characters to unlock all of the games secrets. Entry price may be a little high for the regular folk out there, but arcade junkies can now save a lot of quarters…after the initial investment.
In one week we return with a game about knocking your balls around.
