Now we’re talking! The Super Nintendo was home to many excellent Japanese RPGs (Final Fantasy 3 / 6 anyone?), and hopefully Sony will get the ball rolling with their own release.
Beyond the Beyond comes from Camelot (the developer, not the music store) who made their name with the Sega series Shining in the Darkness and it’s sequels. Early reports are that Beyond is standard fare, but I don’t care – it means we’re getting RPGs in America!
Oddly enough, and take this with a grain of salt, there are rumors that Camelot’s next game is going to be…golf.
Speaking of sports, two more also came out today for those who would rather fight the grid iron rather than with an iron sword. Virgin’s NHL Powerplay ’96 comes out, as does EA Sports ungodly juggernaut Madden NFL ’97.
It’s great to see the ol’ bus boy back in the limelight after the awful cancellation and development hell with Madden ’96. We wish Visual Concepts all the luck.
Back to gaming!
