Trivia

  • Every so often the Demo Mode will glitch. Instead of killing the creature, both the main character and creature will stop, face off camera and just stand there. This has actually happened to me in-game, so I’m not sure what’s causing it.

Secrets

Nightmare Creatures II shares the same set of robust cheat codes as it’s predecessor. With one really interesting bonus to the Level Select code.

Programmer’s Cheats

Be sure to read all of the Level Select’s Code description, as it contains a game breaking debug mode.

  • Level Select and Debugging ‘Streamzone’
Highlight the ‘New Game’ option at the main menu. Hold L1 + R2 + Square + Circle and press Select. A simple text-based menu will pop-up in the upper left corner. The top line is the level itself. You can keep pressing right to properly scroll through your choices without messing up the main game’s menu system. If you happen to press Left, you’ll scroll through the real menu. Simply press right again to get back to ‘New Game’ and then keep pressing right to reset your level choice. For that second line of text labeled ‘Streamzone’, this is where things get more complicated. The Square and Circle Buttons will lower and raise the value. These values (starting from -1 and going incrementally up) are telling the game where the player should currently be within the selected level. If you use these to start – be warned – it will break the game in several ways. Some assets will load in, but they’ll be inactive. You can still trigger events, but enemies will have no AI to them. This includes area doors being inactive which will end up locking you into the area.

There is a secondary Debug code below, which will actually show you in real time which streamzone you are in. This would be helpful to anyone who wanted to map it out.

Note: The Streamzone option disappears if you quit out and return to the main menu, requiring you to re-enter the Level Select Code to gain access back to it.

  • Debug Info
Don’t pause the game, but press and hold L1 + R2 + Square + Circle and press Select. The upper left will now show some simple Debug info. It will have the character’s in-game co-ordinates (X, Y, Z), the Streamzone location (see the Level Select Code above), and whatever a Cache Slot is. As you move between zones, an extra line describing the next location will appear at the top, and then disappear once inside the area.
  • Base Cheat Menu
Pause the game. Hold L1 + R2 + Square + Circle and press Select. This will bring up the “Cheats” menu and by default, the Infinite Hero Life option. Turning this on makes you invincible. From here, you will now be able to add the following cheats to the base menu.
  • Display Digital Life Bar
Pause the game. Hold L1 + R2 + Square + Circle and press Select. Enter the “Cheats” option. Press and hold L2 + R2 + Square and while holding them press Select in this menu to unlock ‘Display Hero Live’. This will give the player a numerical version of their life-bar under the already present green one, A great way to understand exact damages done by enemy attacks.
  • Invincible Enemies
Pause the game. Hold L1 + R2 + Square + Circle and press Select to bring up the “Cheats” option. Press and hold Square + Circle and press Select while doing so in this menu. An option called “Enemy Unlimited Live” will be on the cheats menu now. This makes most enemies impervious to your attacks.
  • Unlimited Continues
Pause the game. Hold L1 + R2 + Square + Circle and press Select. This will bring up the “Cheats” menu. Press and hold L1 + R1 + R2 while then pressing Select in this menu and “Unlimited Continue” will appear. You can now continue to your hearts’ content.
  • One-Hit Kills
Pause the game, then press L1 + R2 + Circle + Square and press Select to reach the “Cheats” option. Once there press and hold L1 + L2 + R1 + Square and then press Select in this cheats menu. ‘Kill Enemy’ will appear on screen. This makes it super easy to kill lower tier enemies.
  • Super Power-Ups
Pause the game, then press L1 + R2 + Circle + Square and press Select for the “Cheats” option, then press and hold L1 + R1 while then pressing  Select at the cheats menu. ‘Unlimited Power-Up’ will be displayed. Power-ups will now be 100% when picked up. Note that if you die, you’ll still lose all of them. Once picked up agin, they will be 100%.
